Prescott Valley sits at about 5,100 feet in Yavapai County on the high desert grassland and pinyon juniper hills east of Prescott, and most of it was built after 1990 on former ranch land. Granville, Pronghorn Ranch, StoneRidge, Viewpoint, Quailwood and the neighborhoods off Glassford Hill Road are stucco and frame homes on smaller lots, many with block walls and gravel yards, and the pests are mid elevation pests: pack rats in the pinyon juniper and boulder piles on the edges of town, house mice and deer mice moving into garages and crawl spaces every fall as nights freeze, paper wasps and yellowjackets under eaves in late summer, carpenter ants in damp wood, and black widows in sheds and wood piles.

Monsoon rain from July through September brings out sun spiders, tarantulas, ants and a wave of kissing bugs from pack rat nests, and the first snow in December pushes any rodent left outside into the house.
Prescott Valley has a growing retiree population and a share of second homes and rentals, and the Glassford Hill retail corridor, the Findlay Toyota Center and the restaurants along AZ 69 run under Yavapai County Community Health Services inspection rules. The calendar runs fall rodent season, spring wasp and ant season, and summer spiders, with quarterly service common.
