Fountain Park and the lake add mosquitoes and midges in summer, and the older central neighborhoods around the Avenue of the Fountains have mature landscaping that holds crickets and roof rats. Desert subterranean termites are in the lower ground toward the Verde. The restaurants along the Avenue of the Fountains and Saguaro Boulevard fall under Maricopa County Environmental Services inspection rules. Summer heat and the July monsoon drive the calls, led by scorpions, pack rats and kissing bugs, bees and vacant home service.
